Come Fair or Foal
One new resident of Tatton Park's Home Farm is making the most of the balmy weather. Tatton Tabitha, a gorgeous new foal born to Blossom on Thursday 8th May has been basking in the sunshine in the paddock at her new home. Tatton Tabitha is the third foal born to Blossom and the very first female for this loving Mum. She has inherited the distinctive markings of her breed and is a bay with four white legs and a white blaze on her nose. Sired by Arclid Minshull Monty, Champion Stallion at the Peterborough Show last year, Tabitha was born at the Arclid Shires & Clydesdales Stud in Church Minshull. She came to her new home at the beginning of the week. Clydesdales are a native Scottish breed, traditionally used as a working farm horse. Their fortunes suffered a downturn with the introduction of mechanised farming, however, thanks to dedication of breeders such as ourselves, the Clydesdale is now making a comeback. As Blossom's first filly, Tatton Tabitha is a very important addition to the Farm, which gained Rare Breeds accreditation last year. Her Mum, Blossom is one of three farm favourites, chosen to promote the Farm's Animal Adoption Scheme in order to help preserve this rare breed. Jayne Chapman, Farm Co-ordinator commented "Clydesdales are considered 'vulnerable' by the Rare Breeds Trust. We hope Tabitha's arrival helps us to promote the history and future of the breed". Farm staff are delighted to see mother and daughter bond so quickly. Blossom had a very swift labour and Tabitha was on her feet within the hour. Jayne commented "The sunny weather has been making Tabitha very sleepy and she is staying close to her Mum. We have brought them into the stableyard during the day so our visitors have the perfect opportunity to see them at close quarters. It's lovely to see Blossom bring a new generation of Clydesdales to the Farm". Tabitha and Blossom can be seen at the Farm from Tuesday to Sunday, 12pm-5pm (last entry 4pm).
